Urban Capital and Malibu Investments are developing downtown Toronto’s first micro-condo community. “Smart House” will feature 241 units at approximately 300 sq ft in 25 stories and starting at $249,000. The micro condo trend started in Surrey, BC and is now spreading. Will we see these small units come to Winnipeg? Keeping in mind that Urban Capital is Glasshouse Condos in downtown Winnipeg, it could be a possibility.
Some of the features of micro-condos include: sofas that convert into beds and have built-in storage; extra-deep counter space and fully retractable countertops in kitchen; a kitchen island/dining room combo; and, integrated sink and vanity in the washroom.
Micro-condos cater to a niche market and could be a great opportunity for individuals and families looking to purchase their first home. Any thoughts?
